BROAD FUNCTION AND OBJECTIVE

Supervises the operations, distribution and application processes of an agricultural retail distributor, assuring timely and efficient production, shipment and application of high quality product at the least cost.  Ensures the preservation of plant assets.



MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organizes, develops and manages the operations, maintenance, security, inventory, delivery and application functions for the plant, including implementation of policies, procedures, and performance standards for these functions which lead to the timely and efficient production, distribution and application of high quality products at the least cost.

  • Recruits, hires, trains, recommends salary levels, corrective action, termination, and guides and evaluates personnel in accordance with Company policy and all applicable federal, state and local regulatory requirements, including but not limited to safety, health, environmental, flammability standards and Equal Employment Opportunity and wage and hour statutes.

  • In conjunction with the General Manager, responsible for developing and attaining operating and other plant performance objectives.
Responsible for developing standard operating practices / methods and ensuring compliance with standards.

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining a qualified and skilled workforce.  Establish production schedules and personnel requirements, evaluate and organize training requirements to improve personnel and ensure regulatory compliance, and facilitate plant safety meetings.

  • Develop an effective customer service program to attain the delivery, cost and quality objectives designed to achieve the company's image of high quality products and superior customer service that provides the absolute best value to our consumers.
  • Develops recommendations for annual and long-term business plans, capital improvements, work process changes and overall management procedures in conjunction with the General Manager.

Sorghum Seed Production Plant Operations Mgr #2799 (2799, Error)

The Plant Operations Manager reports to the Location Manager, and has direct responsibility for all activities that occur within the production location.  These activities include but are not limited to receiving bulk seed, drying, storage of bulk seed, conditioning, treating, packaging, re-bagging, and warehousing operations.  The Plant Operations Manager works closely with the Location Manager to insure that all processes are conducted in a safe and cost effective manner, and that continuous improvement occurs in all areas of responsibility.  The Plant Operations Manager works closely with the Field Operations Manager in order to ensure quantity and quality requests for each customer are met.  Other responsibilities include:
