Purchasing Manager #2785 (Northwest - Indiana)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Purchase raw materials and packaging components to meet scheduled production demands.
  • Arrange transportation of raw materials by rail or truck.
  • Monitor dry bulk storage facility and replenish inventory accordingly. 
  • Monitor and manage the company railroad car fleet used to transport materials.
  • Monitor delivered railcar inventory to ensure timely unload/release of demurrage eligible cars.
  • Coordinate with river terminal staff to ensure timely delivery of cars to receive barges and transfer to company cars.  
  • Work with plant management, production schedulers and customer service to ensure all orders are completed on time.  
  • Work with quality-control staff to ensure inbound materials meet specification.
Other duties:
  • Cross training in scheduling and formulations.
  • Procurement of parts/machinery and consumables for maintenance.  
  • Monitor empty chemical container inventory and coordinate return/disposal w/ vendors.
  • Work with tolling customers to procure customer supplied RM & packaging as needed. 
Travel:
  • Limited travel to trade conferences and vendor/customer meetings as needed. 
Skills:
  • Experience with MRP programs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel 
  • Excellent communicator

Minimum 3+ years precision Ag experience in Midwest crops.  Farm background a plus. A Bachelors or Associates Degree desirable; 75k-85k base plus bonus, truck, and health insurance. This position has the option of maintaining a home office.
